From Spiritual Landmarks to Natural Wonders
💠 Heydar Mosque.
Built in 2014, Heydar Mosque is one of the largest mosques in the Caucasus region. Named after national leader Heydar Aliyev, it symbolizes unity between different Islamic communities in Azerbaijan. The mosque reflects traditional Islamic architecture combined with modern design elements.
💠 Pink Lake.
Has been known for centuries for its high salt concentration. The unique pink color appears due to special algae and minerals in the water. Historically, the lake was an important source of salt production in the Absheron Peninsula.
💠 Candy Cane Mountains (Khizi District).
The colorful striped hills of Khizi were formed millions of years ago due to geological processes and mineral deposits. The red and white layers are the result of iron compounds and sedimentary rock formations. Today, the area is one of Azerbaijan’s most unique natural landscapes.
💠 Beshbarmag Mountain .
Beshbarmag, meaning “Five Fingers,” has been a sacred site for centuries. Located along the historic Silk Road route, it was an important stop for travelers and traders. The mountain is associated with local legends and spiritual beliefs, and it remains a pilgrimage site for many visitors.
